Brief Bio...
T. J. Dunn,
Jr. DVM
Rhinelander, Wisconsin
Naples, Florida
Dr. Dunn
attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, and the University of Illinois in Champaign where he
received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Degree in 1970. His first employment was with a
four-doctor practice in a Chicago suburb. After that he
established the first small animal hospital in
Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He also directed a mobile
animal hospital from a 32 ft. Winnebago that serviced
outlying towns in northern Wisconsin in the early
1980s. With Rory Foster, DVM, he established another
animal hospital in Eagle River, Wisconsin. In 1989 he
established a third animal hospital in Rhinelander with
a pet food and supply store attached.
In 1997 Dr.
Dunn sold that animal hospital and began to focus on the
Internet as a means of presenting to pet owners sound
advice regarding veterinary medical practices and
procedures for dogs and cats. That effort resulted in
creating ThePetCenter.com, The Internet Animal Hospital,
in 1998. The content
of ThePetCenter.com attracted the interest of
PetFoodDirect.com, America's Pet Store on the Web, and was subsequently
sold to the Pennsylvania company. Dr. Dunn was
appointed the Director Veterinary Services for PetFoodDirect.com where he recruited and directed the
nine veterinarian staff for the "Ask The Vet" program
for PetFoodDirect.com. He practices small animal
medicine and surgery in Naples, Florida, and northern
Wisconsin.
Dr. Dunn is
a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical
Association, American Veterinary Medical Association,
and the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition. He
is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Wisconsin
and Florida. For several years he wrote a monthly
column for Dog World Magazine and continues to write
feature articles on pet health care. He has consulted
with various companies on veterinary issues. He
enjoys internet commerce, website design and content
writing, fishing, photography and a variety
of outdoor activities.
